About the Agreement

The Lehigh University Libraries have entered into an Open Access (OA) agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS) for the years 2023, 2024, and 2025. This is a “read and publish” agreement that maintains subscription access to all ACS journals. Lehigh University-affiliated corresponding authors can also publish their accepted research and review articles OA in ACS journals at no cost to the researcher.

Since this agreement was a somewhat significant added cost, funding was provided by the Office of the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Office of the Vice Provost for Research for the first year as longer-term funding is sorted out.

This agreement covers both Gold OA (all articles are OA) and hybrid (some articles are OA, some are subscription-access) journals. Since this agreement was finalized in June 2023, articles accepted between January 1st, 2023 and June 2023 will be retroactively converted to Open Access.

Thanks to this agreement, readers anywhere in the world will be able to access Lehigh University researchers' publications immediately at ACS' Website. Importantly, Lehigh University affiliated-authors must be sure to be listed as the corresponding author, select Lehigh University as their institution, and use their @lehigh.edu email address in the publication process to ensure their research article is Open Access. Please see further instructions for authors below.

Instructions for Authors
