ENGL 304 Filmmaking Studio: Finding Books

Suggested search terms

Books are useful for gathering background information on your topic, especially when researching a topic from a historical perspective. This makes sense when we think about how long it can take to write a book. Given their length, books can provide expansive coverage of a topic, but that coverage will be less current than the coverage provided by a journal article. When searching ASA, the Libraries' catalog, try these search suggestions:

  • Try browsing alphabetically by subject starting with sexual h. This will allow you to see what the possible subject heading are for the material in our collection. Scrolling down, you will see 14 items with the subject of Sexual harassment in universities and colleges United States.

  • If you want to browse for materials to help you produce your documentary, try and alphabetical subject browse starting with documentary.
  • In the ASA search box, search for Subject: sexual harassment AND All fields: history
  • In the ASA search box, search for "Title IX" All fields.
  • In the ASA search box, search for "Title IX" in the subject field.
