Patents and Research

Why Include Patents in Your Research? - Patents are a significant, but often overlooked, portion of the technical literature. Many corporations rarely allow their researchers to publish in journals or conferences in order to protect Intellectual Property (IP). Without considering patents in your search, you may be missing crucial knowledge and information.

When to Include Patents in Your Research - Whenever you are researching a topic or technology that could have an impact on real-world technologies or processes, or if you are working to understand the history or cutting-edge applications for a particular technology.
