Some "Finds"
The State Department publishes five series of electronic journals with a new journal in one of the series appearing every month. Here are two articles that seem extremely pertinent to development and social entrepreneurship.
- Venture Capital Meets High-Tech (PDF - 5.45 MB): This eJournal explores the phenomenon that drives uncounted Americans — and now citizens of other nations — to create fledgling “start-up” businesses that explore and exploit the latest developments in high technology. It also investigates the closely related “venture capital” phenomenon. How investors match their funds to (hopefully) winning ideas is a big part of the start-up story.
- Rethinking International Aid (PDF - 1.06 MB): This edition of eJournal USA describes how U.S. foreign aid — directed through government and faith-based organizations, through individuals, businesses, and a multiplicity of partnerships — has developed, how it fits into foreign affairs, and how it is related to advancing altruistic objectives.
